El Jardin Fine Mexican Restaurant in Elk Grove

Very genuine Mexican food. Fast service. Good portions. Inexpensive

I was visiting my brother and asked him to take me to the best Mexican food he could think of. We went here for lunch and I was impressed. The chips are made of actually tortillas and cut very thick, which is nicely paired with their white sauce, queso and salsa. I got the shrimp fajitas and loved the seasoning on them. I am a Mexican foodie and really wish they had one of these in my area! I'll be back!

We waited at least 35 minutes during a slow nighthour for two special taco dinners because they ran out of cheese. Place was not busy, and neither server knew the specials written on their chalkboard. Food tasted 4 of 10, while price value was 2 of 10. The bench seat was soooo uncomfortable, made worse by a torn open back cushion. Too bad, because we wanted to like it, but the whopping bill was the only big hit.

This place is my preferred one. I visit a lot of restaurants but to this place I constantly return again and again. The crew is very affectionate and the food they place on your table is so flavorful. I never miss an opportunity to have a nice dinner here. I highly recommend this place.

Used to be my go-to Mexican food spot. Loved the lunch burrito special and the food was always fresh. Recently they changed the prices SIGNIFICANTLY. My regular order was $4 extra. The new girl that rang me up didn’t even tell me until she already swiped my card. She was super rude about it and showed no concern when I voiced my own. Haven’t been back since and I never will.

This restaurant is a great place to eat Mexican food as the food is delicious, the portions are large, and the staff is very friendly and courteous.

Ordered a salad without mushrooms, it come fully loaded with them. Ordered a burrito with cheese and shrimp only, they sent out a chimichanga with beans, cheese and shrimp. Then they upcharged the cheese & shrimp. The waiter was nice and helpful, but the service sucked.

I believe that this is the 4th location that I have visited. And this one certainly did not disappoint. El Jardin definitely has a standard of quality that they always achieve. If you're looking for a really good Mexican meal and solid customer service, look no further. And what meal isn't made better by getting the bill and thinking, "that's not bad at all!"..?!

Chicken tacos were good. Service was fine. Was not happy about paying $3 for flour chips. They were over cooked. Had to ask for a refill for my beverage. He saw my glass was empty, but didn't offer. Beans tasted bland, same with the rice. Probably won't be back for quite sometime. We were frequent customers.

The fish tacos are bland and for what little flavor there was, they have a strange flavor profile. The black beans were dry and not good. My wife had the Carnitas plate and said she would not get it again. My daughter had the tostada and asked for no tomatoes. It came out loaded with tomatoes. The service was good, but we won't be back any time soon as the food was lacking.

Very nice Mexican restaurant. Good service, good food. We even asked for them to get us salsa that was much hotter than what they initially brought us. Our waiter had no problem with the request and returned quickly with salsa that had a lot more kick to it. The first one they brought out really had no heat at all. The margaritas were well maid and reasonably priced and the pitcher was a good size. Waiters were attentive but not intrusive. Food was good and not priced unreasonably. All in all, we had a great time and I would definitely go back any time I'm in the area. I would even make an effort to go if I just got relatively close. Give em a try, you won't be too disappointed no matter how high your expectations are going in.

Really, really good Mexican food! Got there after the lunch rush and were seated very quickly. Margaritas came quickly and were delicious! Food arrived shortly thereafter. Oh gosh! Hot, fresh and absolutely yummy. My wife ordered the steak enchilada w the verde sauce. Super tender and great flavors. I had the pork burrito. Same situation for me. Meat was super tender with wonderful savory flavors. Service was prompt and attentive. Highly recommend!

Great food always consistant will be back

My four and a half stars rating is based partly on the fact that this restaurant is in Elk Grove, and we haven't been happy with the choice here, until today. The restaurant is clean and light. The service was very good and most importantly the food was nicely presented and tasted very good. Delighted to have finally found good Mexican food in Elk Grove. I would caution that the booths offer ample elbow room for two, but might be a bit tight for a party of four.

They also have Tequila! And salt and lime for the ladies. Pretty darn good last time I went. I'd go again.

Very welcoming and cozy. Sat at the bar, enjoyed a few drinks and some street style tacos. Very tasty, bartender was amazing and super friendly.

I gave it a 5 star for the Magaritas only...the food was just okay

We were so lucky to have found El Jardin! We are rarely in Elk Grove (being from Roseville)...you know, it might as well be Egypt! We found the restaurant just driving by. The chips were great and we Loved the salsa. Our meals were wonderful. Angelia was our bartender and server. The margaritas were fabulous! And she was a terrific server. I would recommend El Jardin to anyone, local or visiting. You will not be disappointed!

White washed Mexican food, bland but not oily. Seems like they tried to make a healthy alternative but couldn't even use spices? I'm confused, I appreciate the health oriented view but not using oil to cook your food isn't going to improve your health, cutting the sugar is. Which I'm glad they did even though my horchata was sad. My chimichanga was pork and it was rather dry and pork had no flavor; not sure they even used salt... I wouldn't recommend unless you're on a depression diet.

This restaurant is amazing and roomy, the meals was yummy and the prices were very reasonable. quick, efficient service and very amiable staff members. Highly recommended.

The worst "Mexican food" I have ever tried. The food is not authentic and it was pricey for what I got.

Great food, great service. One of our favorites! Excellent margaritas at a good price. I usually refer to the fare as "upscale Mexican food" at an affordable price. Good presentation and no fatty/cheap cuts of meat. Expect prices around 8-15$ pp depending on choices. You won't be disappointed!

The food is "ok". We waited an hour for our food. The salad was pitiful, sad excuse for a salad. The lettuce was bad mixed with fresh stuff. The waiter walked by about 10 times and never asked if we wanted a refill on chips. But as soon as the food came out an hour later says is everything ok? I wanted to really tell him. But I saved it for this revie . I'm not from elk grove but this place is highly rated and I didnt get the justification based on my experience.not coming back.

The moment we walked in the door greetings from the owner and his staff. Warming beautiful artwork. We enjoyed our visit and the food exceeded our expectations.

The food is very good and the restaurant decor is far better than average. We have been frequent dating the Manteca location they have for nearly 20 years. I usually get the Tres Favoritos with Diablo sauce on the shrimp. Soooo good! Service was prompt and for dessert there is a Cold Stone Creamery a couple shops down.

Shrimp Cocktail and Quesadilla sooooo goood!!! Awesome place staff are friendly and of course FAMOUS SIZZLING FAJITA freaking finger licking good.

Food is far to plain, the beans taste like they’ve been left out over night, and the food is overpriced. Service was nice however I was overcharged for a drink I didn’t request, not to mention a drink is $3.25 and you’re really paying for ice since they filled the cup with ice and refills are .50 cents. Never going back.

Local Mexican food for me, I have been coming here for many years, great bar too for cocktails and beer. Only place I know where perimaid heffenwiesen is served. My personal favorite for Mexican food. Great service always.

Freaking awesome! I'm just glad I don't work here... I weigh a thousand pounds with a Richard Simmons tractor truck intervention required to save me from myself, all this great food around, I'd be out of control totally!
